ABOUT US

Our History

Soroti Catholic diocese was curved out of Tororo diocese in 1981 with Bishop Erasmus Desiderius Wandera becoming its first bishop.

The new diocese then was immediately faced with the challenge of shortage of pastoral personnel. In line with the law of the Church, the founding Bishop established St. Peter’s Minor Seminary Madera in 1983 as a response to this pastoral need.
