The Stories of Seminarians
This is aged 15 from St. Augustine’s Parish Mukongoro. All my dreams are to become a priest in future. My challenge is that I come from a poor family which is not able to pay my school fees. This situation is making me worried all the time that I might drop out of the Seminary.

John Kedi
I am aged 19 from St. Michael Catholic Parish Wera. I had just stayed home without any more hope of being at school until the Rector called my parents to bring me to study in the seminary at their own generosity. I am willing to become a priest with all my heart but I am from a poor family that cannot support me financially

Gabriel Obore
I am aged 16 from St. Kizito’s Catholic Parish Katine. I have deep interest in becoming a priest but my family is struggling with serious financial challenges. Sometimes I feel like giving up on education

A Place Where Dreams Come True!
St. Peter’s Seminary Madera is an institution where men of substance are moulded for the service of society as priests and others responsible laymen. It offers a serene atmosphere for integral human growth and development. I can best describe this house of formation with the acronym: “PIUS” which in my opinion represents the basic tenets of success in our student community.
P- Positive
I- Industrious
U- Universal
S- Studious,
Through personal effort and God’s help, one’s dreams easily come true in this seminary.

Academic Formation at St. Peter’s Seminary Madera
Priestly formation here is integrated with an academic program that is aimed at enhancing seminarians’ intellectual maturity to suit the changing world dynamics. The academic program is in line with the National curriculum. The introduction of the Advanced Level in 2021 came with challenges requiring financial aid to fix them. For example, shortage of computers for the teaching and learning processes, inadequate books in the library and some seminarians dropping out of school due to their families failing to pay tuition.

The Seedbed of Spirituality
Liturgy is a cornerstone of spiritual formation at St. Peter’s Seminary Madera. We are nurtured into priestly character qualities of Christ through liturgical practices, talks and pursuit of academic excellence. Despite our diverse backgrounds as seminarians, the formators inspire the best in each of us. Quite often the Bishop of Soroti Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Joseph Eciru Oliach has personally come to inspire us. May they continue to be blessed in their mission.

Life In St. Peter’s Seminary Madera
Being a seminarian is one of my greatest joys. The reception of the Eucharist every morning enables us start each day with blessings and having Jesus besides us all through. We relate well with each other and with the community around the seminary. Our pursuit of spiritual, moral and academic excellence makes us live a complete and free life in God.

The Pearl of Great Price
St. Peter’s Seminary Madera is a centre of excellency and self realization. It aims at nurturing seminarians wholly in human, spiritual, social, academic and pastoral aspects of priestly formation. The conducive environment here makes one forget about all his problems and focuses on becoming a better version of oneself who is ready to serve humanity. This makes the institution a pearl of great price.

Music a Powerful Tool of Seminary Formation
Our sweet mother St. Peter’s Seminary Madera has not only formed minds and hearts for pastoral charity but also transformed souls through sacred music. This has never been mere co-curricular activity but rather a silent formator and teacher of discipline and prayer. Sacred music in our seminary reaches its core during choir practice and celebration of the Eucharist. The rich array of seminarians coming from diverse cultural backgrounds are made to breathe as one body with music being a language that transcends cultures, tribes and regions.
